Avengers review
Justice league has my favorite cartoon characters, Batman and Superman being the tops.
But Avengers stole the show last night as they fought – at times with each other and re-grouping to bust some alien ass (again the preferred battlefield being the skies of Manhattan).
The buildup is superb. Each super hero gets a quick intro, in their own unique ways. They all get to retain their natural charm.
Usually battle movies build up, with lots of punch-emotional dialogues & preparations, for a huge war in the end.
This movie the action builds up gradually right from the word go. Some of the most awesome fights in fact are the ones between the superheroes than the hero v/s aliens.
And the humor is so deliciously scripted into the scenes, subtle yet stinging it manages to get the perfect timing in midst of all the gung-ho battle mood. So much so my little nephew asked me first thing in the interval – “can you repeat all the jokes? I was paying attention to the fighting.”
Robert Downey Jr. lives up consistently to the Tony Stark character from the Iron Man ventures.
Scarlett Johansson (Agent Romanov) is all battle sexy, coming a close second to Angelica in my favourite battle-women list.
Don’t expect much from Coby Smoulders (aka Robin of How I [never] met your mother” fame. More like a PA for Nick Fury (a typical head of secret service role for Denzel Washington).
So go there expect to be well-humored and relish the battles and the culminating war. It sure is the movie of the summer.
